Paul Herrerias established Herrerias & Associates in 1990. Since then, the Firm has grown to become a full-service Executive Level Search, Leadership Consulting and Executive Project Staffing firm with offices in San Francisco, CA, and the North Bay. The firm has achieved 50-100% growth each year since inception, and has plans to sustain that growth over the next decade. Let's take a look at their journey to the present.

Paul Herrerias' early mission was to dedicate his career to helping others to build successful businesses. This led to his obtaining a degree in business from a top West Coast school, a California CPA license, and his entry into the executive recruiting industry. Each of these steps brought him more experience in the art and science of building businesses: The CPA license taught him the "language of business" while the recruiting industry exposed him to the management teams and issues behind the operations. After studying local industries and their leadership teams, Paul had the opportunity to co-found an Executive Search firm with two other alumni from "Big-8" CPA firms. This sounded like another great way to prepare for coaching others in starting and building businesses!

After almost ten years of co-founding and running professional recruiting and consulting firms, Mr. Herrerias decided it was time to build his dream firm, which was the birth of Herrerias & Associates. Simultaneously, Paul started and completed a Master's program in Organization Development and Human Resources to support his consulting work. He had learned from his clients, and from his own experiences, but now he wanted more formal training in the building organizations and leadership teams. His masters thesis was on leadership styles that successfully built high-performing teams, and his successful research provided the foundation for his future years of Leadership Consulting.

In 1994, true to his business plan, Paul applied what had learned in the ways of leading high-performing teams to building an Executive Search firm. This firm was to be different from others in the industry. The focus was to be on recruiting candidates in leadership roles, and applying the principles of high-performance leadership to the candidate screening process.  The structure of H&A would be different too, as it would utilize the principles of teamwork, versus individual performance, in delivering client services.

Since then, Herrerias & Associates has successfully provided customized professional recruiting and consulting services to pioneering companies in the Software Development, Bio-tech, Telecommunications, and e-Business industries, among others. They have partnered with their clients to fully understand each client's corporate values, core competencies, and business requirements for market leadership.

Utilizing proven proprietary business processes and search methodology, Herrerias & Associates search practice has consistently averaged less than 75 business days to successfully place high-performing candidates at our clients' companies, oftentimes becoming a strategic revenue supporting partner in the process.

Their customer service values revolve around partnering with our clients, flexible client touch, effectively listening to business issues and problems, and providing solid and viable real-world solutions. They have fully integrated robust research tools into their processes and are consistently improving their technological capabilities to meet their client-satisfaction goals.

Additionally, they built out core consulting competencies to assist leaders with:

  • Strategic planning and tactical implementation of business solutions;
  • Sales, Marketing, Business and Alliance development.

In order to facilitate these business requirements, Herrerias & Associates has created business units to provide these services and fully integrate them with our current offerings. These units are: Executive Search; Leadership Consulting (The LIBRA Group and HighWaY Consulting); and Executive Project Staffing. This will allow their clients to focus their energy on their core business competencies while empowering Herrerias & Associates to support strategic people planning efforts and develop winning organizational solutions.

Herrerias & Associates' goals for the future, as detailed in their Purpose/Mission page, revolve around continued partnership with leaders. They believe that successful leaders don't build businesses…they recruit, coach, retain and sustain teams that build businesses.
